Cheese is a food from the Gods an ancient and nourishing food source...

Nothing could be finer than a simple meal of cheese, bread and wine.

Here at the Cheese Box we are dedicated to bringing to you only the best of British cheeses. Our cheesemakers specialize in carrying on old traditions as well as introducing new and exciting cheeses they've developed. The methods of production cleverly ensure that each cheese has it's own distinct personality.

Our methods seem to be striking a chord with people as we are delighted to have have been a finalist in the British Cheese Awards, Best New Cheese Retailer 2009 and to be a regional winner in Market Kitchens Local Food Hero 2009 which means we have been entered in to the overall final.

We will let you know how we get on!

From our first day delivering small custom made selection boxes to our latest incarnation as a shop in Whitstable, Kent, we have strived to deliver gourmet and artisan products that showcase the very best British cheesemakers in a friendly and knowledgeable way.

Did you know there are more registered british cheesemakers than there are French? Cheese produced in the UK comes in all kinds of different styles, from soft, to blue, to sheep and goats, to rubbed rind, to soft Camembert and Brie types and much more. There is a far greater selection than just the traditional Cheddars and Stilton's; though we stock classics like this too, of course!

We buy direct and regularly visit all of our cheesemakers so we can learn first hand how they make their cheese and why it differs from other products in a similar area. We also work very closely with the Kent cheesemakers, developing new types and styles of cheese. We are very proud of our close involvement with the makers and we have followed their production lines from the animals in the dairy they source their milk from, through the maturing process to the finished product.

We hope this website will help share our knowledge and love of British cheese and help you provide you with a good source of information about the history, nutritional facts, recipes how to make cheese and much more as well as giving you the option to buy from us online and have your cheese delivered direct to your door via our mail order service.

You can also join us in our forum where we hope to discuss the many different aspects of our favourite foodstuff and link in to our Facebook page to stay up-to-date with all our news!
