Artisan cheeses are a very specialised product.

Each cheese is hand made and will be affected by many variables such as animal, pasture, seasonal and regional milk and special maturing processes They are often produced in relatively small quantities and it is important that their true nature is kept and promoted by the retailer

At the Cheese Box we are specialists in the buying and selling of British Farmhouse cheese. We have 12 years of experience in cheese retail and marketing and we have established long standing relationships with individual cheesemakers. We sell over 45 cheeses - the 'best of British' and focus on sourcing from areas producing nearest to and within Kent.

As part of the service we give to wholesale customers we offer:
¥ Advice on British cheeses
¥ The best quality sourced and aged cheeses
¥ Product updates (seasonal changes and new cheeses)
¥ Tasting notes
¥ Quantity you want (sourcing direct has to be on a larger scale than most retailers/restaurants require - we can help with that).

The Kent Cheeses

In the 'Garden of England' it was surprising that nobody made cheese!! Cheese making in Kent is a very young industry and we already have some excellent cheesemakers who are winning awards, expanding their output and looking to develop new cheeses in the future. There is great interest and demand for Kent made cheeses and it will only get bigger due to it's proximity to London. To support the cheesemakers, The Cheese Box takes an active role when wholesaling to find the right retailer who will promote and sell their cheeses in the right way. We set up 'the Kent cheese consortium' to help these businesses work together to develop and protect their cheeses as they become more popular and also encourage new cheese makers to the area.
